Sonic can cater for multiple camera shoots with everything you need from lenses to viewfinders, down convertors to break out boxes.
As well as the equipment we also provide technical advice and crew, along with everything you need to safeguard your production including back up cameras, onset checks with safe backing up of footage and archiving.
For a friendly, professional service you can trust, look no further than Sonic Films.
2K/1080p PLAY OUT TO TAPE
Sonic Films can now offer our clients the ability to playout to tape directly from the original Red footage with no need for timely processing. We can play out to a range of tape formats including HDCAM SR. For more details on our play out services feel free to contact us.
EDITING - AVID & FINAL CUT PRO
As part of our dedication to bringing our clients a complete and usable workflow from production through post, Sonic Films can edit your production with either Avid or Final Cut Pro. We can also deliver offline or online content for other edit houses and can handle bespoke editing requirements on a job by job basis.
CONFORMING & GRADING - ASSIMILATE SCRATCH
As one of only a handful of companies adopting Assimilate Scratch in the UK, Sonic Films is able to offer our clients the most advanced, professional, rapid and cost effective method of conforming and/or grading footage shot on the RedOne Digital Cinema Camera.
Scratch is a complete DI system capable of primary and secondary colour grading and outputting DPX files for recording to film.
Scratch allows us to conform to the original 4K R3D files recorded by the camera. Editing offline using Final Cut Pro and conforming in Scratch offers the quickest turnaround with the Red Camera although there are methods of working with Avid and other NLE's that are also quick.
Scratch is the only system that can colour grade Red files in their native RedCode format. By grading the cameras RAW footage we have the ability to use all of the information that is recorded by the camera's 4K Mysterium sensor giving us the greatest amount of flexibility in post.
Onset colour grading and editing options are also available.
INTERMEDIARY WORKFLOW
At Sonic Films we recognise that many of our clients have their own requirements for editing and grading footage shot with the RedOne camera.
Our aim is to provide a pain free post production workflow when shooting with the RedOne camera. We consult on each individual production in order to provide the most efficient workflow without compromising quality.
We therefore offer services for processing footage for whatever offline or online process you envisage.
BACKUP & ARCHIVING
The RedOne Camera records footage to compact flash and RedDrives as data. This footage can equate to terrabytes (TB) of information. Delivery and storage therefore makes up an important part of an efficient and effective workflow from production through to post.
Sonic Films typically offers harddrive based solutions for delivery to post. We can also provide footage on a range of industry standard tape solutions including HDCAM SR.
For archiving we use LTO tape. It is a standard in many industries where large volumes of data need to be stored for long periods and has an estimated shelf life of over 50 years. The beauty of LTO compared to HDCAM and DigiBeta is that we retain an exact copy of what the camera recorded, including the 4K resolution and RAW colourspace. Other tape based archives require the footage to be scaled down in resolution and have the colourspace baked into it, giving you less options in the future. LTO is also very cost effective for our clients.
Data backups and archiving are done in house and with strenuous checks taken to ensure complete and reliable copying.
